Mamogram hazards

A study that provides important considerations about mamograms was not reported widely in the U.S. press. It summarizes years of experience with mamograms, showing that for each cancer that was actually detected with a mamogram, 10 healthy women were actually diagnosed and treated for cancer that did not exist! Women need to be aware of this unnecessary treatment hazard as well as the unnecessary anxiety that is generated with each false diagnosis, even if it does not involve treatment.
