A new study widely publicized in the daily press presents results of the JUPITER study, showing a large decrease in the rate of cardiovascular illnesses when taking Crestor™(rosuvastatin). However, there were several problems with this study and its interpretation. First, the study was stopped early, a known source of bias. Second, the study was funded by Astra-Zeneca, the company that makes the drug. Last but not least, we should be aware that out of 100 people taking the medication, only one person(!) was impacted. So before you rush to request Crestor from you physician, please read our full report on Crestor, and educate yourself on the associated risk interpretation.
